The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA), which supersedes the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), presents an extraordinary opportunity to transform and improve the public workforce system.

Partners work together to meet community workforce needs, promote stronger alignment of workforce, education, vocational rehabilitation, and other human services systems in order to improve the structure and delivery of services to individuals, including adults and youth with disabilities and others who face barriers to employment.  This resource page provides you with links to partner WIOA web pages, workforce system resources, and contact information for state and local one-stop network partners.

WIOA expands the purpose of adult education to emphasize that activities should increase an individual’s ability to transition to postsecondary education and obtain employment.

WIOA makes significant improvements for individuals with disabilities, especially youth with disabilities as they transition from education or training to employment, by ensuring that these individuals have opportunities to acquire the skills they need to maximize their potential and enter competitive integrated employment.
